David Leigh in conversation
David Leigh has just stepped down as Investigations Editor of the Guardian after a journalistic career spanning 43 years. In that time he has been involved in some of the biggest scoops including the revelation of improper contacts between Saudi Arabian arms dealers and the former Conservative minister, Jonathan Aitken, which led to Aitken being jailed for perjury, the exposure of secret bribery payments by the arms company BAE and the dumping of toxic waste in the Ivory Coast by the oil firm Trafigura. He also oversaw the Guardian’s handling of the Wikileaks exposures.
This evening David Leigh talks to journalist and broadcaster, Phil Harding, about his life of exposures, about the ethics of journalism and about the future of investigations.
