David Starkey
Overview
The historian, author, and television commentator and presenter, Dr. David Starkey, has agreed to meet with The Chelsea Society at 6pm at Chelsea Old Town Hall.
He will comment on how the British constitution has changed over the past 35 years.
David Starkey wrote and presented the 1984 Channel 4 documentary series This Land of England, and has written and presented several history documentaries for BBC television, beginning with the Award-winning Henry VIII (1998). He achieved notoriety as a panellist on the BBC debate programme The Moral Maze, debating the moral issues of the day.
His first television appearance was in 1977, on Granada television’s Behave Yourself with Russell Harty. He was a prosecution witness in the 1984 ITV programme The Trial of Richard III whose jury acquitted the king of the murder of the Princes in the Tower. His television documentaries on The Six Wives of Henry VIII and Elizabeth I were very successful.
Tickets £25 plus booking fee (to include a glass of wine after the talk) The meeting is at Chelsea Old Town Hall, not at the Cadogan Hall, and will start promptly at 6pm.
Chelsea Society events are for our members, and when booking tickets members should use the name in which they are known to the Society (if in doubt please check with the Secretary).
Members may also bring guests.
