Event description

Description

The Old Newry Society and Newry Film Club are joining hands on Friday 2nd February to exhibit a unique piece of cinematic history. There will be a special screening of the 1928 silent film, Dawn. This story tells the story of World War 1 martyr Edith Cavell, a nurse who risked her own life by rescuing prisoners of war from the Germans. She was aided by Madame Ada Bodart, a Newry-born woman who plays the role of herself in the film.

The film will be accompanied by the pianist Darius Battiwalla, who has composed a unique score specifically for the movie.

Proceeds will be donated to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust.
