Event description

Description

Day 1 Monday 20th May 2019

Aimed at NQTs and ITTs

The conference will explore the social, emotional and mental health situation within our classrooms and what we can do to foster a climate that is healthy both to learners and also staff that support the needs of children and young people.

West Yorkshire has a strong tradition of proactively looking at the holistic needs of its children and young people and in the current climate this is becoming a priority. As a group of local ITT providers we feel the need to address the local and regional situation regarding the mental health and wellbeing of learners, from the ages of 4 to 18.The conference will bring together a range of highly qualified educational, wellbeing and mental health specialists who will deal with the situation from both a research based perspective and on a practical level. Professor Jonathan Glazzard will open the conference and a series of workshops will draw on the expertise of professionals who can offer practical tips as well as signpost support for developing wellbeing and resilience at all levels. The day has been designed to support those teachers in the early stages of their careers to help them understand social, emotional and health (SEMH) concerns and gain effective practical strategies to provide an inclusive classroom.

Key note speaker - Professor Jonathan Glazzard
