Event description

Description

Can we tempt you with a FREE of charge day of workshops, practical experiments and seminars around healthy eating and body image in the primary classroom?

The focus on health and wellbeing is important to us all but its inclusion in the National Curriculum has encouraged schools to place it firmly at the centre of their pupils’ learning. These sessions will aid you in implementing the current ‘food teaching in primary schools’ knowledge and skills framework by Public Health England. They will also help you come up with creative ideas for food teaching which is the focus of Ofsted’s new Common Inspection Framework.

Join us at our next Day of Discovery, in association with the world’s first food themed museum, Alimentarium. Together, we will provide you with an array of ideas, experiments and practical activities to teach your pupils about the science of eating and nutrition.

Recommended for primary school senior leaders, classroom teachers, teaching assistants and support staff with responsibility for food in the curriculum and the implementation of the School Food Plan.

What's a Day of Discovery?

A Day of Discovery is a professional learning experience focused on three simple but important goals: learn, share, connect.

Brought to you by the Discovery Education Community, these full-day professional learning events help teachers and support staff learn more about great classroom practice utilising digital content and tools, provide opportunities for participants to share strategies that are working, and connect attendees to their most valuable resource: each other.

About Alimentarium

The Alimentarium Foundation founded in 1980 has been running a food museum for over 30 years. In 2013, it radically changed its strategy to promote a digital outreach program anchored in the physical museum. This is an integrated approach to content creation and dissemination.

With this approach, the Alimentarium Foundation aims to become a worldwide reference on food and nutrition, combining a digitally and physically interconnected learning platform to share its expertise with the public and professionals.

For more information visit alimentarium.org and alimentarium.academy.
