Draft Day Opportunities Strategy and Draft Day Service Model Consultation Event

Birmingham City Council is consulting on the draft Adult Social Care Day Opportunities Strategy and the draft Day Service Model, which is outlined in the draft Day Opportunities Strategy. The consultation will run for a 90 day period from 8th April 2019 to 6th July 2019.

The draft Day Opportunities Strategy is aligned to the overarching Adult Social Care Strategy and Vision approved by the Council in 2017. While the 2017 document refers to the need for “change” generally, this does not necessarily apply to the provision of day opportunities. The draft Day Opportunities Strategy and draft Day Service Model are proposals to be consulted on

The council recognises that people value day opportunities. This Draft Strategy and Draft Service Model aims to provide a clear set of design principles and actions to support the proposed development of day opportunities in Birmingham and to ensure there is sufficient good quality accessible provision for all those that need it.

To provide some context to Day Opportunities, these services benefit approximately 1600 citizens with a wide range of support needs including older people, people with learning disabilities, autism, physical disability, and people with mental ill health across the city. Current services are delivered directly by the Council as well as by approximately 60 independent organisations.

We would like to encourage you to take part in our consultation to help us understand your views about the proposed approach to delivering day opportunities in Birmingham.
