Re-create your cycle and a clean environment Re-connect yourself with nature Take you “me time”

About this Event

Re-create your cycle and a clean environment

Re-connect yourself with nature

Take you “me time”

If you have ever been among trees in a woodland, listening to the birds, walking, or simply searching for some silence, you have already experienced the Japanese practice of shrin-yoku or forest bathing. In Japanese, “shinrin” means forest and “yoku” means bath, or immersing oneself in the forest and soaking in the atmosphere through the senses.

Breathing deeply and finding peace in nature has a massive positive role on your body and mind. Plants release substances from their leaves that are effective in positively stimulating the immune system, as many studies have proved.

In our Day Retreat together, we will meet in a small group of maximum 5 people, in the chraming area of South Queensferry and Dalmeny to spend some hours totally merging with the trees, the silent guardians of life next to the beautiful waters of the River Forth.

Forgetting your mobiles and usual busy schedule, in the magic atmosphere of this enchanted forest, inhabited by fairies and green creatures, you will take this time off for yourself only to re-build and re-create the cycle that naturally links human beings with nature as a part of the whole. It will be your slowing down time to re-connect literally with your roots.

Some time of digital detoxing will help you to pay attention to your breath, to use all of your senses, to meditate while walking, to dance freely, to stay silent. When did you last touch a tree trunk, or notice the symphony of animals and leaves dancing around you?

We will create together our sacred space in this time of reconnection with a shamanic ceremony . In this ceremony, you will receive guidance, healing and inspiration, you will learn how to create an altar, smudging with burning sacred herbs, calling the seven directions and then receiving your talking stick to share your heart with your close beautiful circle of souls for this retreat.

A ceremony is spontaneous, a ceremony is unique, a ceremony is a direct connection with the spirits of the land.

Think about what you need to re-create in your life. Think about what you want to re-connect with along your path.

Ask for guidance and the fairies will answer, they always do.

After connecting back with your roots, in our Green Creativity Time, you will center and ground yourself making a wonderful mandala with elements from the woodland: flowers, leaves, pebbles. A mandala is a circle that becomes a container to hold your ideas and emotions, it is a circle of interconnection, it will be your area of work with your symbols, your tool of transformation, your wheel of life, when you can identify those patterns that you constantly repeat in your life and block you from re-connecting with yourself and re-create the life you truly wish.

Making something with your hands will help you to understand that transformation is accessible and is exactly in the palms of your hands.

And our final form of deep gratitude towards nature will be making a difference with our hands, cleaning up some litter from the green and the beach.

Remote areas like woodlands are normally forgotten and people enjoy spending time outside and are often disrespectful towards the environment.

There is no Planet B is a warning that we need to take action immediately to guarantee we can still live on our planet. We need to show our respect and to be pragmatic. This is an area where I love going once a week and during the lockdown, I was hugely shocked by the amount of rubbish left there. I promised I would have done something as soon as possible, this is my deep thank you for all the wonderful gifts I got from these trees.

I would love you can share the same feeling at the end of our Retreat and feel that a simple small gesture like collecting items that do not belong to this ground, can help nature to breathe again.

In the same way these trees helped us, at the beginning of our day, to re-connect with our breathe.

You will receive new litter pickers, one carrier bag and the official guidance from Keep Scotland Beautiful and our Health and Safety Guidelines .
