About this event

Arts • Painting

A day of art and movement designed to help you start your new year with a fresh perspective and some inspiration. This workshop will get you out of your head, into your body and creating freely from this new place.

As one trained artist and sculptor, and one writer who is branching out in her creative pursuits, we know how many hang ups there can be when you’re looking at a blank canvas: fears of getting it “wrong”, your old teachers demeaning voice in your head, feeling stuck or out of ideas… the list goes on.

The weekend is designed with beautiful outcomes in mind, regardless of whether the last time you used a paintbrush was in primary school, or you’re so highly qualified that you find it hard to let loose!

We host no more than 12 people at a time to ensure everyone receives plenty of support and guidance.

No experience needed…in art or anything else.

Who are we?

Clare & Holly: a pair of creatives who have both climbed out of a pit of self-destructive behaviours and thought patterns, and stepped away from traditional roles and societal expectations.

For the last two years, we've been building community together at The Lavender Project, aiming to live as sustainably as possible and build and maintain healthy, supportive relationships. We’ve been helping people around us to do the same, using our own insights, practices and tried and tested techniques. We’ve been given wonderful feedback on how impactful this work is, so now we've put it all together into three weekend workshops.

We're excited to share our resources, strategies and knowledge with a wider community- hopefully including you!

Testimonials

“I had a list as long as my arm of things I needed to achieve, so I was clear with what needed to be done, but at every point I found myself sabotaging and undermining. Hollys’ sessions gave me rock solid techniques and Clare’s produced physical objects to support my process and I’ve used them every day since”

"The Internal Storytelling workshop was really fun. There was a really good vibe and everyone was happy working on the task, but in their own way. I liked that the instructions on what to do where given in a way that we didn’t feel like we were being told that we had to do anything or that there was any pressure. There was lots of freedom, and we could’ve chosen to do it any way we wanted. There was a big choice of all the different things and materials; all the stuff we could’ve possibly needed or wanted to use, and lots of guidance and help if we weren’t sure about anything. I ended up being very pleased with what I did. I don’t consider myself very good at drawing, or at anything to do with art in any way, but what I ended up with was really good!"

“Working creatively with Clare was always very inspiring. With every project I learned something new whether that be skills, about the materials we were working with or about myself. I always felt very trusted and free with implementing my own ideas while also receiving support whenever needed. I left each time with new motivation to come up with my own projects.”
