Andrew Gallacher was born in London in 1995 and his family moved to Beaconsfield in 1998.
His passion was discovered at secondary school, when he began learning the piano in 2008. Subsequently he was accepted into the Purcell School for Young Musicians in 2011. This was followed by studies at the Guildhall School, the Royal Academy of Music, and private studies with eminent professors.
As a young pianist in 2016 he was the first prize winner at the Brighton and Hove Springboard Concerto Competition, where adjudicator Timothy Barratt praised his "imaginative playing" "tonal finesse" "incisive control". This success led to Andrew's appearance as soloist with orchestra in that same year, performing Liszt's Piano Concerto no.2 in A-major, S.125. This was followed in the summer of 2017 by a tour of Poland performing concertos by Liszt and Chopin.
Andrew’s performing repertoire encompasses works by Mozart, Beethoven, Brahms, Chopin, Liszt, Poulenc, Prokofiev, Scriabin,
Now also a devoted piano teacher based in Beaconsfield, he takes pride in nurturing and cultivating young pianists to reach their full potential.
Andrew has studied with Gareth Owen, John Thwaites, Caroline Palmer, William Fong, Bernard d’Ascoli and Pascal Nemirovski. He continues to study and sees music as a never-ending journey of discovery, enrichment and growth. Through his teaching and performing, he hopes that he can transmit his love for music to others and that lives might be changed for the better, as his was.
