DBS Barring Webinar for East Midlands Employers & Voluntary Orgs

Come along and join this two hour webinar hosted by Lizzie Whittington, DBS Regional Outreach Adviser for the East Midlands. Lizzie works with all organisations in the region, no matter their size or sector, to help them understand the importance of safeguarding and DBS checks. If you are involved in managing safeguarding concerns within your organisation, this workshop will be useful for you!

Did you know if you have staff or volunteers engaging in regulated activity (for example, they have an Enhanced with Barred list DBS check), then you have a legal duty to let DBS know if certain conditions are met.

This webinar will cover:

• The benefits of DBS and you (employer) working together

• Overview of the different routes DBS receive referrals
• Understanding Regulated Activity / Relevant Conduct and Harm Test
• When a DBS Barring referral should be made, including when there may be a legal duty to refer
• How to make a referral and what a good quality referral looks like
• DBS Process when a referral is received
• The consequences of not making appropriate barring referrals and the consequences of being included in one or both Barred Lists

This session is aimed that those who are involved in HR, management of those in regulated activity, those who have safeguarding responsibilities, trustees and those who would be involved in making referrals to the DBS.
