Description

Dear Colleague,

Registration is now open for the DCN Autumn Assembly 2017

We are delighted to announce that the DCN Autumn Assembly 2017 ‘Local Solutions for National Prosperity’ will be held on Tuesday 21 November from 11:00 to 15:30 in the Bevin Hall at Local Government House, Smith Square, Westminster.

This event is free for all DCN members but it is necessary to register beforehand at this link due to limited capacity.

It will be a chance to hear from key speakers how districts deliver better lives and bigger economies. Driving local economic growth through housing, planning and infrastructure gives districts a unique ability to shape and support sustainable communities where no one is left behind.

In particular the district role in alleviating the costs of adult social care and homelessness is significant, and good practise in these areas will be explored by our expert panel. There will also be an opportunity to find out more about Government and Parliamentary priorities and the role district councils have in directly shaping these

Confirmed and invited speakers include;

  • Alok Sharma MP (Minister for Housing and Planning)
  • Clive Betts MP (Chair of the Communities and Local Government Select Committee)
  • Nick Walkley (Chief Executive of the HCA)
  • Senior LGA Spokesperson (TBC)

The assembly will also showcase two high profile district councils who have had success in tackling homelessness within their localities. Discussions from the day will feed into the DCN's policy making and directly shape the way we will seek to influence MPs and Ministers.

Best wishes,

The DCN Team
