DDBC Networking - "A Cinderella Lifestyle………."
Tuesday, 20 May 2014 from 18:30 to 21:30 (BST)
San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
Come and join us for our latest event at the Hagley Golf and Country club where you will be able to meet and build relationships with other local business owners. The DDBC has a relaxed and social atmosphere where all businesses are welcome.
Our speaker will be Sue Cooke, Deputy Editor of Chamberlink business magazine .
Sue Cooke has spent the last 16 years working in a sector which has previously been owned by an exclusive world of men. And it is an environment that men understandably, would prefer to keep to themselves.
As a motoring journalist she has travelled throughout the world to research automotive news and to review new car launches. She embarked on her first overseas new car launch driving in Sardinia in 1997 and through hard work and perseverance she has gained exclusive interviews with among many, the ex-Formula One driver and Le Mans winner Allan McNish and Charles Morgan, previously MD of Morgan Motor Company.
When most people will have only driven one car in their lifetime, Sue says that over the last 16 years, she has driven approximately 2,368 different models and versions. Some of these she has tested on every racing circuit in the UK and some racing circuits abroad. She has driven down the side of a Scottish mountain and sideways, inside a Boeing 747, executed performance driving and handling through fast flowing rivers and dry desert rallying. And over several days has driven a range of Bentleys on a frozen lake in Finland.
In an industry which is hard to get into and even harder to leave, she still writes as a freelance motoring journalist for a range of business, fleet and lifestyle magazines and newspapers throughout the UK.
She entered the world of motoring as one of the first female motoring journalists and joined former Top Gear presenter, Sue Baker. She and Sue now compete with a few other female motoring journalists but she says they do tend to come and go.
To find out why Sue refers to the world of motoring as a Cinderella lifestyle join us at the next DDBC meeting.

On occasions, the formal or educational side of the Club is forgotten and we have totally social occasions. However, the talk tends to centre around the members’ businesses.
