Event description

Description

FREE TO FRIENDS OF THE DE MORGAN FOUNDATION AND MEMBERS OF THE VICTORIAN SOCIETY

The De Morgan Foundation owns an unparalleled collection of ceramics and oil paintings by William and Evelyn De Morgan. The husband and wife duo were key proponents of the Arts and Crafts Movement in the late 19th and early 20th Century.

Join the staff and trustees of the De Morgan Foundation on 21st January at 15.00 for a new year drink and an informal talks by the De Morgan Foundation's acting curator, Sarah Hardy, on De Morgan's tile designs and ceramic practice and The Victorian Society's John Scott, on the history of Bedford Park, the Arts and Crafts Village where the Tabard Inn is located.

The Tabard Inn is a Grade II listed building in the Bedford Park area of West London, built in the Arts and Crafts style by the architect Norman Shaw and is decked out in De Morgan tiles. It is one of the few places left in London where a full De Morgan scheme can be seen and enjoyed in its original setting.

We look forward to meeting you there.
