Event description

Description

Goldsmiths‘ Hall hosts the exhibition De Vroomen: Harmony in Colour and Form. Netherlands-borngoldsmith Leo de Vroomen and British jewellery designer and artist Ginnie de Vroomen give a guided tour of the exhibition, celebrating five decades of artistic collaboration between the renowned husband and wife team.

The showcase brings together around a hundred pieces of De Vroomen jewels and sketches, as well as Ginnie’s vivid paintings influenced by both nature and the urban landscape. In essence, the exhibition takes bold, sophisticated jewellery with flowing lines and places them in conversation with polychromatic abstract art. Leo De Vroomen’s work is renowned for its sensuous, sculptural repoussé work which celebrates the warmth and malleability of gold, sitting alongside enamel that accentuates gemstone and pearl highlights. The understated presence of diamonds makes these pieces suitable for wear during the day or at night. Meanwhile, Ginnie De Vroomen’s abstract paintings share a similar colour scheme and in so doing complement Leo’s work. With distinctive style, De Vroomen continues to create jewellery prized for its individuality and craftsmanship that not only captures the symbiotic relationship between form and colour, but also reflects the wearer’s sense of individuality.
