Event description

Description

Are you a Deaf person considering a career in academia or just starting out? Have you been working in academia for some time? The UCL Deafness Cognition and Language Research Centre (DCAL) invites you to the 2018 Deaf Academics Workshop on Friday 29th June, 2018 in Bloomsbury, Central London. We welcome all aspiring and established Deaf academics from any and all disciplines. During the day there will be presentations from inspiring Deaf leaders and smaller group discussions on various practical topics. These will include the obstacles we face and how to tackle them, and how to navigate our way through mainstream academic environments. The event aims to clarify what it means to become more empowered as Deaf academics and how we can develop self-determination throughout our working lives.

Keynote Speaker: John Bosco Conama, Trinity College Dublin (https://www.tcd.ie/slscs/staff/comamaj)
