Event description

Description

Hoarding is a challenging and complex issue to contend with in a housing setting. Hoarding is an often discrete issue, and interventions often take place when the problem has been going on for a significant length of time. Hoarding cases need to be handled sensitively, with equal attention given to the person who is hoarding, anyone else impacted on by the hoarding, and the tenancy management issues at play.

Working with people who hoard is always about pitching a very careful balance between supportive intervention and housing management strategy. If either approach is out of step you can risk losing controlof the case, losing trust with your tenant, or having a longstanding and contentious case that will end up in court.

Our training is unique because it has been designed with a multi disciplinary approach that you won't find anyone else offering. Our supported housing and housing law specialists have co-produced this one day workshop with Barkmens' consultant psychotherapist to give you a practcal toolkit of tried and tested techniques to ensure that as well as resolving the hoarding issue, you can work with your tenants to resolve the underlying issues that have led to them having a problem with hoarding.

We know that one day training courses are useful, but we also know that it's often a challenge to put into practice the vast amounts of theory you learn (and on this day you'll be learning A LOT) so we're offering every delegate three complimentary coaching sessions to help with putting your learning into action.

If you'd like to know a bit more click through to our blog here, or get in touch, we'd love to hear from you.
