Description
What are you Dying to talk about?
As part of Dying Matters Awareness Week on 9-15 May, Birmingham St Mary's Hospice is hosting their first death café on Tuesday 10 May from 3.30pm-5pm at Urban Coffee Company (JQ).
"Death café? Sounds a bit morbid to me..." Not at all. The aim a Death Café is to increase awareness of death to help people, young and old, make the most of their (finite) lives. These free events are places where you can talk about death and dying in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. There's no agenda, objective or theme to the event. It's about having honest and open discussions over a cuppa tea (or coffee) and cake.
What's on the menu?
Apart from the delicious goods on offer from our generous hosts Urban Coffee Company, at the death café you will be encouraged to share your personal thoughts and stories, discuss questions such as 'What message would you like to leave behind?' or 'What song would you like for your funeral?' and to offer advice on making the most of our lives. There's also a chance to write your ultimate bucket list item on the hospice's 'Before I die' board installation at the venue.
[Please note, this is a free event but food and drink is available at the café]
So come along on Tuesday 10 May from 3.30pm-5pm and join the big conversation.
