DESCRIPTION

These popular full-day workshops are perfect for professionals and adults wanting to increase his/her understanding and improve communications around death, dying and loss with clients, patients, students, the general public, family, friends or colleagues. Do not miss this opportunity to take a class with Dr Wester, an expert in death studies, who livens the topic with practical and fascinating material.

The Level One workshop, with 5 hours CPD and certificate, will cover:

  • Why talking about death is important

  • History & myths about death

  • Notions of time

  • Importance of Language

  • Social context of death

  • Understanding grief & bereavement

This course has been highly praised by the RESUS team and others at the Shropshire, Telford & Wrekin NHS Trust:

"What I valued most about the course was the history of death, and where and why it has evolved. The knowledge of the instructor was amazing, and left me wanting to learn more. It will change the way I work, and it has changed how I think about myself personally." Emily Browne, NHS RESUS Team

This course is designed as a level I over-view course, which will help prepare you for the Level II course on Understanding Grief. It is recommended that you take the Level I workshop first in order to understand the concepts that will be reviewed in the second level.
