Event description
A public talk by “Forensic Anna” - Dr Anna Williams, forensic anthropologist, broadcaster, and science writer from Huddersfield University

About this Event

As part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science, join us at the Duckworth Laboratory for a compelling talk by one of the UK's leading forensic anthropologists.

This highly illustrated talk (including some graphic images) describes the unique outdoor forensic laboratories known colloquially as 'Body Farms' in the USA and Australia. Anna will discusses the research that has been conducted at them to helped criminal investigations, detail how there isn't a similar facility in the UK or Europe, and explores the reasons for and against them. The talk invites a discussion of public opinion in order to stimulate healthy debate.

The event is suitable for adults and contains some graphic content.

After the talk, why not join us at the nearby Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology to explore the social anthropology of death at an open evening event. Details and tickets here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/deathly-encounters-tickets-75762490649
