The next Debating Group debate, sponsored by Christine Jardine MP, will take place on Wednesday 9th July 2025 and has been organised by the Independent Print Industries Association. The motion will be: "Campaigns that include print are more effective"

Please dress smartly for this event. There is no need for formal wear or suits but please be mindful of your surroundings. No shorts please.

Security at the Palace of Westminster

You will pass via security at the Cromwell Green entrance which may include a bag search due to the nature of the location. Please follow the directions of security staff when you arrive at the location. Please allow at least 15 minutes to pass through security.

Do I need a paper ticket?

You are welcome to print off your Eventbrite confirmation to show at the entrance but an e-ticket will also suffice. Please make sure this is ready on your phone to display when you approach the Cromwell Green entrance to The Palace of Westminster.

Can anyone book a ticket?

The Debating Group welcomes anyone wishing to book tickets and the event is most suited to those in marketing, media and advertising.

How do I participate in the debate #1?

Once the proposer, opposer and their seconders have spoken, the debate will be thrown open to the floor. This is your chance to contribute to the debate. You may have arrived at the debate with some pre-prepared remarks or are moved to say something based on what you have heard from the platform.

How do I participate in the debate #2?

When you have caught the Chair’s eye, address yourself to her or him giving your name, organisation and, if you have already decided, whether you are for or against the motion.

How do I participate in the event #3?

You have a maximum of five minutes for your contribution (ideally less). At the end of the debate the opposer and then the proposer will sum up before a vote is taken.
