Decarbonising heat - How it should affect you
Overview
Reading Energy Champions launched last year and will help us navigate the way we heat our homes and buildings in order to reach the UK government’s Net Zero target. The latest attitudes survey reveals that more than 60% of UK respondents support the net zero target, yet more than half were either 'little or hardly aware'of heat pump technology as a solution for decarbonisation of heat in buildings.
This seminar will provide you with:
- A recap of types of heat pump technologies, how they work, what are their pros and cons
- Overcoming the implementation challenges of heat pumps in our homes.
- How government grants, now extended until 2028, and MCS rule changes are really helping
- What our team are finding in practice with real world use cases
The breakouts will allow you to voice your own thoughts about the transition, how this affects you, or if it doesn't come close. Our wrap-up session will take your input to steer our emerging community energy scheme ideas.

A note on the fee
Ethical Reading is a Community Interest Company (CIC) dedicated to keeping our costs as low as possible. We are a volunteer-led, virtual organisation with just two part-time staff members.
While we strive to minimise expenses, there are unavoidable costs associated with running our operations. To help cover these, we have introduced a small fee. However, if you’re unable to pay this fee, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at info@ethicalreading.org.uk. We’ll provide you with a discount code to fully cover the fee, ensuring accessibility for all. This session is also free for employees of our Partner organisations and Ethical Reading volunteers.
