December Writing Retreat for MDX PhD students, School of Law
***Open to School of Law Middlesex University PhD students only***
Dear MDX PhD students,
You are invited to the third academic writing retreat aimed exclusively at doctoral researchers and organised by the Doctoral Institute. The aim of the retreat is to make a massive advancement with your writing, so what you will be doing for two days is to write up part/s of your own PhD. Over the last two retreats, delegates wrote on average between 3,000 and 5,0000 words. However, depending on how prepared you are, it is possible to get much more writing done. The writing retreats are in effect ‘boot camp’ style sessions aimed at focusing on your writing without external distractions and in the company of fellow doctoral students. Please note that these are not training sessions, although good tips and pointers do get swapped during our breaks! The aim is to come to the retreat with your research and do nothing but write. Due to the success of our first two retreats, we plan to hold regular retreats going forward. For December, to tie in with the PhD Seminar, the retreat will be on the following dates:
Friday 9 Dec at 15:30-19:00 in C219-20, Saturday 10 Dec at 10:30 - 18:00 in CG82.
Ideally you would attend both days, but if you can only make one day please still sign up and attend. Mariette Jones, Senior Lecturer in Law and PhD candidate, will be in attendance and will send more information to delegates closer to the date.
