Event description

Description

Images used to be made to be instantly decipherable by the viewer. People used to know which person was being represented, which story told, and which meaning send out by the work of art. We no longer have this ability to know what we are looking at when in front of a classical work of art.

This series will not focus on the maker, the material or the period in which it was made, but rather help you recognize the subject of the work of art.

We will look at symbolism and Iconography, bible stories and mythology to decipher the work of art. There will be plenty of opportunity to transfer this knowledge to a number of different works of art from different periods and different countries.
