Event description

Description

The IPCC says that we have less than 12 years to avert catastropic climate change. This will seriously affect everyone living in the area. Lancaster City Council will be considering a motion to declare a 'Climate Emergency'. A number of Councils, including Bristol, Stroud, the Forest of Dean, Tameside and the London Assembly have already passed motions, usually unanimously.

We need you to come to the Council meeting at Morecambe Town Hall at 6pm on Wednesday 30th January to show the stength of support for urgent action on Climate Change.A motion is being proposed by a cross party group of Councillors that will include a commitment to reduce carbon emissions to zero by 2030, and to work with business, community and other organisations to do the same. It will include actions such as switching to a 100% renewable electricity supplier, setting up a council owned energy supplier, moving to low emissions transport and regulating for low carbon development. Please also petition the Council by 18th January here. You can also register to speak for up to 5 minutes. Contact the organiser for more information.
