Event description

Description

This panel event brings together esteemed international scholars: Boaventura de Sousa Santos (University of Coimbra, Portugal), Carmen Medina (University of Indiana), and Elizabeth Walton (University of Nottingham) to raise and discuss critical issues around decolonisation in Education.

In a Global context of increasing influence of “international” and “universal” standards, this panel discusses education in relation to power relations and inclusion within and across contexts. What forms of knowledge are valued? What curricula? What pedagogies? Who is marginalised and disadvantaged in our educational structures? Addressing some of these questions is a critical step in addressing inequity in education on local and global scales.
