Event description

Description

DTA is pleased to present the critically acclaimed film, The House On Coco Road alongside Director Damani Baker and a suite of esteemed guests as part of our FORWARD EVER project. In addition, we are hosting a post-screening workshop on 1st July 2017 allowing the space to explore the issues raised by the film in more detail.

About The Workshop

The Emotional Emancipation technique was originated by the Association of Black Psychologists in collaboration with the Community Healing Network. The Introduction to Emotional Emancipation Circles (EECs) offer safe spaces for particpants to discuss issues affecting them as a result of systemic oppressions. This pioneering methodology allows participants to address healing/recovery holistically from personal, social and cultural vantage points.

The workshop will be facilitated by Davy Hay. A certificate of particpation will be awarded to participants enabling access to follow on to the full Emotional Emancipation course facilitated by Rameri Moukam of Pattigift Therapy..

A contribution of £5.50 is requested. All proceeds go towards materials and provisions for the day.

It is important to note that this workshop accompanies with the film The House On Cocoa Road. It is being hosted one week later than the screening to allow participants the space to digest the film and think about some key questions/statements arising from it for them. Archive Material will be available to assist in the exploration. Please see below for links to the film trailer and the Rio Cinema box office where tickets for the screening alone can be purchased.
