Are you ready to see the city in a completely new light?

Move beyond the obvious and discover the hidden beauty of Liverpool Waterfront. This isn't just about capturing street scenes; it's about revealing details within concrete, glass, stone and steel.

You'll learn to deconstruct the visual noise of the city, focusing on the fundamental elements of line, shape, texture and shadow to create truly original images.

What You'll Learn:

  • Abstract Composition: Train your eye to identify and frame abstract elements in urban environments, turning everyday scenes into captivating works of art.
  • Play with Light & Shadow: Harness the power of natural and artificial light to create dramatic contrasts, intriguing patterns, and dynamic forms.
  • Explore Unique Perspectives: Discover how reflections, graffiti, architectural details, and unusual angles can offer fresh, conceptual photographic opportunities.
  • Deconstruct the Familiar: Develop techniques to strip away distractions, allowing the essential visual components of a scene to shine through.
  • Enhance Your Creative Vision: Cultivate a more artistic and conceptual approach to photography, pushing the boundaries of traditional street photography.

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop is perfect for photographers of all levels – from beginners eager to develop their eye, to experienced photographers looking to refresh their perspective. If you enjoy urban environments and want to transform them into unique artistic expressions, this workshop is for you.

Why This Workshop is Different:

While many workshops focus on capturing the literal scene, this workshop challenges you to delve deeper. We shift the focus from typical street photography to a more conceptual approach, encouraging you to interpret the urban environment creatively and find abstract beauty where others might not.

Here's a list of recommendations for your best experience:

  • Don't forget: Your camera or phone with a full battery and enough space in your memory card.
  • Dress for the weather: Check the forecast and dress appropriately for outdoor conditions, including layers, rain gear, etc (We may rearrange if there's really bad weather, but it's good to be prepared if we go ahead). Also bring comfortable shoes, as we'll be doing a fair amount of walking along the waterfront.
  • Bring a notepad and pen: You might want to take notes on tips and techniques shared during the session.
  • Arrive a few minutes early: This allows time to find the meeting point and get settled before the workshop begins.
  • Be open to learning and sharing: Come with an open mind, ready to learn new skills and connect with other photography enthusiasts.
