Get into the festive spirit with a creative evening at Wallisdown Conservative Club, where we’ll be making beautiful wooden Christmas tree decorations using the art of decoupage. This relaxed workshop is part of our monthly ladies crafting evenings and is open to everyone – members and non-members alike.
What is Decoupage?
Decoupage is the art of decorating an object by gluing cutouts onto it and then coating the surface with layers of varnish until it appears painted. In a nutshell:
- Cut out: Designs are cut from paper, magazines, wrapping paper, or special decoupage sheets - we will be using pretty Christmas napkins.
- Arrange & paste: The cutouts are glued onto your decoration - rustic wooden slices.
- Seal & finish: Several layers of varnish or lacquer are applied to protect the artwork and create a smooth, durable finish - the messy, but essential part!
This session may get a little messy, so please wear something you don’t mind getting dirty!
All materials and guidance will be provided, and you’ll leave with a set of 6 handmade festive decorations – perfect for your tree or as a thoughtful gift.
The workshop takes place in the back bar of the club, with a licensed bar and hot drinks available to purchase. There’s also free parking opposite. Doors open at 6:00pm so you can settle in and grab a drink, with the workshop starting promptly at 6:30pm.
Everyone is welcome!
If you’re booking as a member, please select a Member Ticket at checkout and show your membership card on the evening. And if you’re coming alone, drop me a quick message – I’ll be more than happy to meet you when you arrive.
