Event description

Description

Are you willing and ready to push yourself out of your comfort zone, transform your fear and walk barefoot over 20ft of wooden embers – burning at 1,236 degrees! – in aid of our Sue Ryder Dee View Court Capital Appeal?

Fundraising target: £150

Fire walking is the most exhilarating, unique and memorable experience. Not only does it give you an adrenaline rush like no other, but partaking will leave you with a heightened level of self-belief that will stay with you long after the fire has burnt out.

Can anyone fire walk?

Yes! No preparation is required; simply attend a motivational training session on the night and you’ll discover the techniques required to walk across burning embers, unscathed and empowered!

Spectators are encouraged

Ask your family and friends along to support and celebrate your achievements!

Please note: The minimum age for participation is 14, and early booking is essential as places are limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.

About the Dee View Court Capital Appeal

To reach more people, we need to raise £3.9 million to extend our Dee View Court neurological centre in Aberdeen, to build new specially adapted rooms and apartments, and give us the flexibility to care for a further 20 people.

It’s a big project, and one we cannot do alone. You can help us realise our vision, and give more people in your community the care and support they need and deserve.

It’s an event like no other – please join us!

FAQs

What is Fire Walking?

It's the practice of walking barefoot on hot embers. The challenge is designed to help transform fears and encourage participants to do things they didn't think possible. Taking part in a Fire Walk will almost certainly show you that there is more to reality than you think and that the many limitations we experience are self-imposed.

What’s the best thing to wear on the night?

There are no special requirements regarding clothing, though casual clothing is best. All you need to do is roll up the bottom of your trousers so that they don’t get dirty and tights would need to be removed before the walk.

Your feet are going to be sooty afterwards so it would be worth taking some of those odd socks lingering in your sock drawer!

What does it feel like?

Opinions vary. A number of people don’t remember having any physical sensation at all during the experience - some say it was warm and some even say it was cold!

Are there minimum age requirements to enter the event?

Yes, you must be at least 14 years of age to take part in this challenge.

What are the terms and conditions of the event?

You can read these in full on the Sue Ryder website.
