Overview

Explanation matters. When we hear incomplete information, we often fill the gaps with assumptions about what is happening. However when people understand how things work, their support for action grows.

This session will equip you with the tools to clearly explain the Scottish care system using two robustly tested framing metaphors that resonate with the public and foster better understanding. By mastering these metaphors, you can help shift public attitudes, counter stigma, and build a more supportive environment for children and families.

Deep dive into two key framing metaphors:

Scaffolding: Explains how a strong care system supports children’s growth and success.
Navigating Waters: Illustrates why children and families might interact with the care system.
Explore the theory behind these metaphors and their impact on audiences.
Engage in practical exercises and discussions to apply these metaphors in your roles and conversations.

Who Should Attend?

This session builds on the techniques discussed in the Introduction to Framing and Framing Care Experience. If you work in any capacity around care, this workshop will help you communicate more effectively about how the system works.
