Event Details

The 2nd Deep Learning Winter School at the University of Hull will take place from the 22nd to the 23rd of January 2019 and is tailored towards undergraduate and postgradudate students as well as advanced pupils and prospective students who wish to get involved with the exciting research field of deep learning.

The 2 days are designed as a hands-on introduction to the theory and practice of deep learning - the driving technology behind recent breakthroughs in Artificial Intelligence, such as self-diriving cars, personal assistants, autonomous drones and machine translation, amongst many others. Knowledge of deep learning and experience in applying it are increasingly sought after skills for graduates, both in industry and academia.

We will combine lectures and practical lab sessions with opportunities for discussion and between 2 and 4 invited research talks from leading researchers in academic and industry. There will also be a social dinner event, the opportunity to work on a group project, and participants will get an opporunity to meet Viper, the University's in-house supercomputer.

Participants are not expected to have experience in deep learning or Python, but some programming experience will definitely be an advantage.
