Breakfast Meeting - 08:00am to 10:30am

Defending the cloud: Bridging the Office 365 security gap

Driven by Microsoft Office 365, digital transformation is remaking every aspect of modern business. Organisations are moving to the cloud and to software-as-a-service (SaaS) platforms to become more collaborative, efficient, and agile.

But although early initial hesitations about cloud-based services have faded, security challenges remain. Threats are always changing, but most attacks share a common trait: they target people.

And the way to target people at work is through email. In fact over 90% of cyber attacks involve email as a principle threat vector. And of course email for most companies email means Microsoft Outlook. Which is why securing Office 365 should be such a priority for any orgaanisation.

Office 365 has some good security built in. But for many organisations this will not be enough: they will want to augment that basic level of security and will be considering technologies such as:

  • Advanced email therat protection that guards against ransomware and email fraud
  • Data loss prevention to stop the unauthorised export of critical data
  • Compliance failures caused by personal data being moved to insecure locations
  • Threat intelligence to identify the presence of hackers within networks
  • Attack response and remediation tools to limit and repair any damage

In addition, companies that are reliant on cloud based apps for email, word processing, spreadsheets and intranets will want to be confident that these essential business tools will always be available. Managing those periods when cloud based services such as Office 365 are unavailable is essential.

During this roundtable we will explore the new risks emerging from the shift to Microsoft Office 365, the pitfalls of common approaches to cloud security, and the steps you can take to protect your organisation in the cloud era.

The questions we will explore

During the meeting we will focus on questions such as:

  • What are the pros and cons of cloud services and cloud back-ups?
  • How can you decide whether security built into cloud based apps will be sufficient for your organisation?
  • How can you ensure that your use of cloud solutions such as Office 365 maintains your compliance with standards and regulations?
  • When do you need to flex your security profile and how can you do this in the cloud?
  • How can you build true resilience into your cloud computing strategy?

Who is invited?

CIOs, CISOs, CIROs, IT Directors, Heads of Messaging and Business Continuity Managers at large organisations (4000 plus employees) in any industry sector.

Successful companies will ensure that their IT systems use cloud computing services such as Office 365 in the most effective way without becoming complacent about security. They will be confident that they are working with experts who can navigate safely around the pitfalls that cloud computing can present. And they will plan for major data breaches and be confident that the way they respond will restore them to normal functioning with as little delay as possible.
