Deflect and Protect - Professionals Sessions
Overview
This training is for any professional within Camden and Haringey with an interest in neurodivergence (e.g. Teachers, Educational Psychologists, Social Workers, Early Help Workers, CAMHS workers).
Deflect and Protect are a uniquely positioned organisation to deliver a project around the intersection and nuance between autism and radicalisation, because they are an autistic-founded and operated non-profit, created specifically to address the complex issues of radicalisation within the autistic community.
Leveraging expertise in neurodiversity and digital harms, the session will provide a deep understanding of how people are exposed to extreme narratives and radicalised into various ideologies
The sessions are contemporary, with up to date research, case studies and scenario based discussions focusing on current trends in radicalisation.
The sessions cover conspiracy theories, digital harms, screen time, peer pressure, the influence of global events, and online exposure to graphic content like gore, pornography, and satanism.
This is a 2 hour, online training. This link will be visible 2 hours before the session starts.
If you are not available at this time/date, there will be future sessions booked both virtually and in person. Please subscribe to the organiser for this event to be provided with future dates once arranged.
After this session you will be given the opportunity to be a part of a working group with professionals across Haringey and Camden aimed at developing our understanding of this area and our approaches to keeping neurodivergent communities safe.
