The Degree Apprenticeship currently provided by the University of Portsmouth is devised by business leaders, universities and the Chartered Management Institute. It is enabling local businesses to develop existing employees and for 2017 cohort an additional opportunity to recruit young talented individuals (with 3 A-Levels or equivalent) who have the potential to be future managers.
In April next year the government will introduce a mandatory 0.5 per cent apprenticeship levy for all organisations with a pay bill over £3 million each year. These larger employers will be able to offset this investment and gain further funding through employing apprentices. Smaller organisations will continue to benefit from the Government’s co-funding rules.
Over a three year day-release programme, the degree apprentice will study a practical work-related degree in BA (Hons) Business Leadership and Management and they will acquire skills and knowledge which will benefit their employing organisation – right from day one. They will be learning alongside people from different sectors and fields sharing their experiences with their colleagues – bringing a different perspective to working practices.
We’d be delighted if you could join us at our Hot Topic to discuss these exciting initiatives to upskill our future workforce and register your interest as an employer for 2017.
