Artist Deimantas Narkevičius discusses his exhibition Doubled Youth with Professor Richard Clay, art historian, Lina Džuverović, independent curator and lecturer and Alessandro Vincentelli, BALTIC Curator of Exhibitions and Research.
Lithuanian Artist Deimantas Narkevičius has been using film and video since the 1990s to explore ideas of narrative and storytelling, with a focus on subjective, historical perspectives. Often employing a documentary aesthetic, the artist’s work aligns political history with his own memories as a way of exploring Eastern European social change; examining the role and status of monuments within shifting ideological moments.
Narkevičius is widely regarded as one of the most recognisable contemporary Lithuanian artists, having represented his country in the 49th Venice Biennale.
