About this event
On May 13:
Through the 2021-22 academic year, University of the Arts London and Wikimedia UK have been working in partnership on Decolonising Wikipedia x London’s Colonial Her/Histories. This knowledge exchange project invites and supports people to examine London’s colonial her/histories and legacies, through an anti-racist, decolonial lens, and to update public knowledge of this through editing Wikipedia.
It is led by Lucy Panesar who has been working in collaboration with UAL students and participants of the South London Gallery’s youth programme to edit specific pages related to the colonial history of Crystal Palace Park, including the 1911 Festival of Empire.
Panelists include:
- Alex Goodall, Final year student in BA Sound Arts at London College of Communication and UAL Decolonising Wikipedia Assistant
- Sam Baraitser Smith, Alumni of the South London Gallery’s Art Assassins and Young Researcher for the Places Never Seen project
- Lucy Panesar, Progression and Attainment Project Manager, London College of Communication
