Looking at measures to support the regeneration of high streets through innovative approaches.
About this event
As the data on retail spending and footfall now reveals, the pandemic and Covid restrictions sped up the otherwise slow decline of the High Street by an estimated 10 years. Yet there is much activity taking place in town and city centres and quite different to the 'clone town' approaches rolled out nationwide in previous decades...
For places that secured Heritage Action Zone (HAZ) and High Street Heritage Action Zone funding (HSHAZ), this webinar is a great opportunity to look at other projects to see what has been done elsewhere.
For places without this significant injection of funding and energy, there is much to draw upon: actions that make a difference to local confidence, partnerships and investment routes, the role of heritage in bringing life back to centres, and the value of collective responsibility to achieve more.
Aimed at local authority officers and members, communities, business owners and BIDs, civic societies and development team consultants, this webinar will look at a variety of places and transferable lessons.
Speakers on Thursday 30th June 2022:
- Welcome and Introduction, Louise Thomas, HTVF Director
- Giving the high street a face lift: Shopfront Improvements in Heritage Action Zones, Will Holborow, Associate & Heritage Team Leader, Purcell
- Regenerating Bishops Auckland, Rebecca Burrows, Head of Heritage (Townscape), Lanpro
- Our evolving high streets: a role for the place, Iain Nicholson, town and city centres specialist and founder of The Vacant Shops Academy
- Some highlights from the HSHAZ Programme, Robert Holder, Town Centre Commercial Advisor, Historic England
Each HTVF webinar counts as 2 hours of CPD, and certificates are available on request.
