Event description
This free clinic provides you with advice on how to deliver effective presentations online and helps you improve your presentation skills

About this event

In this Online Presentation Skills Clinic you will start to build a portfolio of skills to help you to create and deliver a presentation that can be delivered online via Zoom, Microsoft Teams or any other video conferencing platforms. The Clinic will be delivered on Zoom.

For owners and directors of small and medium sized businesses in Berkshire, this bookable free one-hour session has been designed to introduce you to the art of presenting online or to help you refresh the skills you already have.

Why attend this clinic?

If you need to showcase yourself, your company and your products, you will almost certainly have to present yourself and your ideas in a way that will inspire and convince those listening to you. Delivering a great presentation will help you secure new opportunities and grow your business. Currently face to face meetings have almost vanished and you may feel you lack the skills and confidence to deliver either a 30” elevator pitch or more formal presentation online. If so, this clinic is for you.

What is covered?

In this online clinic you will explore and discuss what makes a great presenter, think about how you structure your presentation, how to portray yourself to others with confidence and authority and how to tell stories effectively. We’ll also discuss how to present online with tips on lighting, sound, how to share slides and use the Chat function effectively.

What do I need to do before attending the clinic?

You must be prepared to deliver a presentation online of up to 3 minutes maximum. This should include a few slides. You will also be sent a pre-course information sheet to fill in and return so that the session can be tailored to your needs.

Who is delivering this workshop?

Alison Rusted is a friendly encouraging coach who specialises in coaching presentation skills online. Ali was an Editor at the BBC for many years where she worked with radio and TV presenters across a wide range of sports and news programmes and launched digital stations Radio 4 Extra and 5 Live Sports Extra. Most importantly, she learned that successful communication is all about understanding the audience - what inspires, enthuses and engages them - and how that understanding will enhance your communication skills and deepen your connection with your audience.

Ali has worked with London firms such as Grant Thornton and Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner to small start-up companies and young British Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
