The Government has committed to delivering 1.5 million homes over the course of this Parliament, aiming to increase housing supply and expand access to affordable homes.
But how can we ensure these new homes are built to a high quality?
At this year's Labour Party Conference, RIBA is hosting a panel discussion to explore approaches to building new homes that are well designed, energy efficient, and meet the needs of diverse communities across the country.
The event will bring together leading voices from Parliament, local government, architecture, and the wider housing sector to examine why design, sustainability, and placemaking must underpin efforts to tackle the housing crisis.
Panellists include:
· Richard Wooldridge (Chair) - Director of HPA Architects and member of RIBA's Housing and Planning Expert Advisory Group
· Hetty Wood – Cabinet Member for Housing.at Liverpool City Council
· India Gerritsen - Researcher, Institute for Public Policy Research
· Margaret Mullane MP - Dagenham and Rainham
· Matt Rodda MP - Reading Central
· Sharon Thompson – Deputy Mayor of West Midlands Combined Authority
