About this event

  • 6 hours

This one day course supports teachers to develop and deliver robust teaching around relationships, and puberty, and to introduce sex education in the primary phase.

Designed for teachers of primary learners, and primary RSE and RSHE leads, this one day remote training course will support you to:

  • Develop and embed teaching of core topics of RSE, such as consent, touch and privacy in lessons and as a whole-school approach
  • Understand the requirements for teaching about the changing adolescent body in mandatory eealth Education and best practice for a developmental approach
  • Consider how to approach sex education with key stage 2 learners, and how sex education as part of RSHE provision links with National Curriculum science and health education across key stages 1 and 2, particularly in relation to life cycles and sexual reproduction
  • Explore how to create a safe and inclusive learning environment for all learners
  • Participate in group activities to explore examples of teaching activities and resources to support learning about sex and puberty
  • Develop practical approaches for engaging with and involving parents in RSE

Participants will leave with increased confidence to plan and deliver age-appropriate RSHE lessons for primary learners, example activities that you could use to explore certain RSE topics, and signposting to relevant, reliable resources.

How to take part: This one day course will run remotely using Zoom. Ticket holders will receive an email in advance of the event with the meeting ID and password. Accompanying slides are provided for delegates to keep.
