Delores by Delores
London Design Week Fashion Show
Friday 16 September, 7.00pm – 8.30pm
British Fashion Designer Delores will showcase her latest knitwear collection entitled Delores by Delores, inspired by the Caribbean people who arrived in Britain on the SS Windrush in 1948. Her work is based on the struggles faced upon arriving in Britain, in particular the story of Enrico Stennett and his memories of living in a bomb shelter where his skin and clothes were eaten by maggots. The texture of these narratives inspired Delores’ knit work textures in her garments. She also draws inspiration from their vivid memories of life back in the Caribbean, incorporating colour, food, music, old pictures, plants, beaches, and architecture. Delores has fused these ideas together to create a fun, carefree yet nostalgic feel within her inspiring collection.
Delores is a British Fashion Designer who specialises in Fashion Knitwear Design. In 2009 she attended The University of Lincoln. After graduating in 2012, she began her Masters (MA) Degree in Fashion Knitwear Design, at the Nottingham Trent University. She would describe her design aesthetic as ‘senses mania’. Using colour and texture, she purposely designs to draw some form of emotion from her consumers. This is inspired by one of her favourite artists Mark Rothko. Delores is predominately a Menswear designer who enjoys pushing the boundaries using texture, print, colour and the art of storytelling to bring her designs to life.
