About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Join us for a thought-provoking and inspiring session led by Malcolm Gill, founder of Dignitate, a charity dedicated to supporting carers and families from cultural communities affected by dementia.

This online session will go beyond clinical definitions to explore how dementia is experienced, understood, and supported within different cultural communities. We will look at the powerful role that faith, family dynamics, community, stigma, language, and cultural identity play in shaping the dementia journey—both for the person diagnosed and their carers.

Expect a warm, interactive space that blends professional insight with lived experience. Whether you are a practitioner, carer, community leader, or simply curious, this training offers real tools for better engagement, inclusive practice, and culturally competent care.

What you’ll gain:

  • A deeper understanding of dementia through a cultural lens
  • Awareness of the unique challenges and strengths within Global Majority communities
  • Strategies for delivering more culturally sensitive support
  • Insight into Dignitate’s work, lived experiences, and real-life stories from community carers

Let’s move towards a world where every person’s dementia journey is understood, honoured, and supported—no matter their background.
