Dementia and Housing

This training course will provide staff with a general overview of dementia including how to recognize different types of dementia and how to provide appropriate information, signposting and support. The course will also provide delegates with access to helpful resources.
This one day course is aimed at staff working in all roles within the housing sector, including those working in general needs housing who may come into contact with people living with dementia, including housing officers, neighbourhood officers, income teams, ASB teams, customer service staff and maintenance and property/estate management staff.
During this course, participants will:
Be given an overview of dementia and an understanding of how it affects people
Made aware of other conditions that may be mistaken for dementia
Explore common types of dementia, plus signs and symptoms
Discover person-centred approaches to working with people living with dementia
Discuss effective ways of responding to behaviours that are challenging
Be made aware of the local and national services that can provide support to people living with dementia and their families.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
We welcome you to attend the other courses in this series, however this is not obligatory.
