Description

An increasing proportion of people accessing health and social care services now have dementia.

It is important to ensure that staff working in these services feels confident and competent to meet the needs of people with dementia and respond to any challenges they may face. This is a half-day course
covers:

  • What is dementia?

  • Different types of dementia

  • Areas of function effected

  • Communication tips and strategies for working with dementia

Trainer

Carol Hanning works with our hospital discharge project as part of Local Opportunities for Older People. Carol has a significant track record working in services and training staff in how to work with people with dementia.

Terms and conditions

This course is in our Shandwick Place training room, which is not accessible for physical disabilities. Please contact us if this affects you and we will relocate the course. The course includes teas, coffee and biscuits but does not include lunch as there are lots of lunch outlet choices just beside us.

Training booking on Eventbrite are best paid by credit or debit card using Visa, Mastercard or American express. In exceptional circumstances, credit facilities may be available. Please contact the organiser to discuss your request at training@health-in-mind.org.uk or 0131 225 8508.

If you need to cancel your booking and give more than two weeks’ notice, we will refund your payment in full. If you cancel with less than two weeks’ notice, we will refund 50% of your fee.
