Event description

Description

Recent data provided by the Alzheimer’s Society informs us that there are currently 850,000 people with dementia in the UK, with numbers set to rise to over 1 million by 2025. For this reason the Alzheimer’s Society has established an initiative called Dementia Friends.

This informative workshop will refresh your existing knowledge of Dementia and ensure you have relevant, up to date information to provide essential support and care to people living with dementia.

Topics covered

  • Dementia Facts
  • How memory works
  • How dementia affects people
  • How to support people living with dementia and their Carers
  • How to understand challenging behaviours
  • How to become a dementia friend

At the end of the session you will have the option to become a dementia friend and get a free badge!

This hour long session is open to all Diocesan Support Services Staff who would like to participate; with the timing deliberately set over a lunch time so that you are able to bring along your lunch and listen as you eat.
