Dementia Care Workshop for Families
Sat 6 May 2017, 10:00 – 16:45 BST
We want to help you have a more joyful relationship with your loved one with dementia.
This day is for family carers or relatives of those with dementia who want to understand more about the condition and get some practical solutions to common issues.
Family carers' include anyone who looks after or visits a relative living with dementia, whether it's at home or in a care home.
Morning session - An introduction to dementia
- No jargon, just insight and helpful information to help you have a deeper understanding of what is happening and how to care more effectively
Afternoon session - Common issues in dementia care and practical solutions to help
- We will discuss how the environment affects people and provide you with some top tips on dementia communication and distressed behaviour
We recommend you attend the whole day as the afternoon will build on what we learn in the morning, however we understand that some carers will have time constraints, so we have opened up just the morning session as a stand alone introduction.
We want to help participants have more insight into understanding dementia. We use our Pop Up Dementia Experience so that some participants can 'walk in the shoes of someone with dementia' and discover what is really happening for someone and learn how we can help.
