Event description

Description

Many people look into the eyes of their mothers, fathers, grandparents and spouses, and see nothing recognisable left of the person. Caring for a friend or family member with dementia can throw our worlds upside down, asking us to reconsider our roles in and relationships with our families. This workshop looks at just that; the monumental yet overlooked shifts that happen in families and friendship groups when a loved one becomes a dementia sufferer. Join Candi Miller and R. M. Francis for this creative writing workshop that encourages participants to consider their family relationships, changing roles and memories through cutting-edge creative practices. Focusing on the changing relationships following the impact on their lives of dementia and becoming a carer, Candi and Rob will provide the skills and techniques to creatively express their experiences.

This event is part of The 2019 Being Human Festival and is organised through the University of Wolverhampton.
