Thu 23 March 2017, 09:45 – 16:30 GMT
This course will explore how we can respond to the challenge of creating dementia friendly homes for independent living, introducing a wide range of practical improvements, many of which are low cost and easy to implement. These include the better use of colour and contrast, space and signage, design and decoration.
The course is suitable for housing professionals involved in the design, upkeep and improvement of their organisations housing stock and for those supporting people with dementia, including housing/neighbourhood officers, sheltered and support staff, maintenance and asset management and development teams.
This course will:

Explore prompts, reminders and recognition aids
Consider the designing of space to protect privacy and strengthen the sense of home.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
We welcome you to attend the other courses in this series, however this is not obligatory.
