Event description

Description

This year, local authorities across the country will be celebrating World Social Work Day, which is an opportunity for us all to celebrate the achievements of the profession. The theme for this year’s event is Promoting Community and Environmental Sustainability.

South Tyneside Councils celebration day will take place on Wednesday 21st March 2018 and to help us to celebrate this day we are faciitating a number of Dementia Friends Workshops for members of the community.

Dementia Friends is a project facilitated by the Alheimer's Society and is the biggest ever initiative to change people’s perceptions of dementia. It aims to transform the way the nation thinks, acts and talks about the condition.

The workshop will be run by Mark Overton (Dementia Friends Champion) as an overview of dementia and will help you understand what it is like to be living with the condition. We will also discuss positive actions that you can deliver that will support anyone you interact with who is living with dementia

These will be small group sessions, so if you live in South Tyneside and want to learn more, come along and have a chat with Mark.

Tea and Coffee will be provided
