Dementia Friendly Design

1 day Masterclass  

The Masterclass will equip you with knowledge and skills tools and techniques to improve care within your organisation and to effect value for money improvements in the care environment. The teaching will use a variety of methods. The approach is of interactive and inclusive learning. 

Learning Outcomes

  1. Recognize the importance and impact of the physical environment to care and recovery

  2. Understanding of the key features of dementia friendly design

  3. Appreciate how simple changes can have a positive impact on people living with dementia and staff

The content includes:

  • Why the environment matters to people with dementia

  • Key elements of dementia friendly design

  • Case studies illustrating how a multidisciplinary approach involving people living with dementia and staff can improve wellbeing

  • Use of environmental assessment tools to drive sustainable change

  • An opportunity to discuss projects and develop action plans

Target audience

Health and social care, this includes clinical staff, estates and facilities managers, arts and activities coordinators and those with an interest improving the physical environment of care for people living with dementia. A Certificate of attendance will be awarded at the end of the workshop.

*All students employed by a Worcestershire NHS Trust or Wye Valley NHS Trust have to complete a study leave form (or equivalent) if they want (a) to study in works time, or (b) want the Trust to fund or part fund the course, or both. Upon receipt of your approved trust study leave form you will receive notification that your place is booked. If you attend these days without an approved study leave form you will be charged. 

In any given year the availability of conferences, events and study days will depend on delegate numbers. In the event of a conference, event or study day not being run, due to a low number of delegates registering, delegates will in these circumstances be offered a full refund; otherwise no refund of fees will be made

Is my registration/ticket transferrable?

Yes - you can amend your registration details on Eventbrite. However, after registration and payment of the workshop fee no refunds will be made unless the worskhop is cancelled due to insufficient delegates registering.
